Organizational leaders are results oriented. Typically, the desired results are denominated in terms of profit, but there are other valued metrics such as influence, power, and fame. From a Christian worldview, there is an even more seminal metric, that is, obedience to the will and ways of God. At the end of the metanarrative, alignment with God will be the ultimate measure of success. Therefore, the right results must be those results that reflect alignment with God as the true metric of success, that is, the right results. Then how does one achieve the right results?
Right results are the fruit of a process that begins with the right worldview. The right worldview leads to right thinking that leads to right actions that produce the right results.
Right Worldview → Right Thinking → Right Actions → Right Results
The Christian worldview is the singularly correct worldview because it is the only worldview based on Jesus as Lord and Christ. All other worldviews are rooted in the spirit of anti-Christ. Therefore, the process that leads to the right results must begin with the right worldview. Right thinking can only emanate from thinking correctly about Jesus. Based on right thinking, one can determine right actions that will produce the right results—results congruent with the will of God executed according to the ways of God.
Right results can be confusing to humans, even those who know Jesus, because there is an innate proclivity in mankind to measure results by more tangible metrics such as profit. But given the correct definition, right results can only be measured by the intangible metric of alignment with the will and ways of God. The tangible metric of profit is, therefore, at best, a sub-metric to the intangible metric of alignment with God.
Because of the intangible nature of right results, metaphysical awareness is required. Metaphysical awareness is the ability to view reality from God’s perspective. The most efficacious tool to gain this perspective is Scripture as illuminated by the Holy Spirit. Developing this awareness means building the ability to perceive, understand, and live according to a Christian worldview.
Managing an organization from a Christian worldview can be difficult because it is not natural for mankind. It is sometimes difficult to understand if an organization’s results are right. The process for evaluating results must include an assessment of the means and motive for achieving those results. The motive is the agenda in the hearts of an organization’s leaders. And the means (ways) must be assessed against biblical metrics that reflect the righteous standards of God. Consequently, claiming to define right results based on the tangible metrics of profit, power, fame, and influence is true only when it was rooted in a Christian worldview.
When our will and ways are aligned with God’s will and ways, we will achieve the right results (favor, growth, profit, excellence, efficiency, reputation, etc.). But undoubtedly there will be occasions when the right results are not our desired results. This will test our ability to value what God values and to be content with his definition of right results.
Here is your business tip. The predicate for right results is right thinking that can emanate only from a Christian worldview because right thinking is a by-product of a Christian worldview and is the requisite basis for right actions that will produce right results. Right results are, first and foremost, results aligned with God’s will and ways. When God’s will and ways are different from our desired will and ways, we must learn to be content that true success is obedience to God’s will and ways no matter what our desired results may be. Viewing results with metaphysical awareness is a necessary predicate for one who is seeking to live congruently with God’s will and, therefore, will achieve results aligned with him.
